Per Ashley Gant from Facebook site-
"There is mention of Q2-P landing at Woodbridge on 17 January 1945 with Lt Fox due to bomb bay doors not closing but that seems way too early to still be there in March?"
Per Peter Horne -
"There were 5 aircraft from the 790th BS that had the RCL 'P' that I'm aware of at this time. They are:
42-52531 'Devils Hostess' (?? Mar 44 - 11 Apr 44)
41-29446 'Tangerine' (10 May 44 - ~03 Oct 44)
44-40500 'Boomerang' (19 Oct 44 - 25 Nov 44)
42-51171 'ELI SWOF JR' (25 Nov 44 - 02 Mar 45)
44-50482 'No Name' (?? Mar 45 - RZI)
Most likely 'ELI SWOF JR' that's referenced. She wasn't flying the Group mission that day so she must have been on a practice mission when she developed the bomb bay door issue. Nice piece of information to know.
What's perplexing is I'm unaware of a pilot with the 467th (let alone 790th BS) with the last name Fox.
Two were enlisted. Joseph E Fox was a Bombardier with the 788th BS (1st Org) and flew with Kenneth Driscoll and are #007-R0. He was transferred to the 801st BG (carpetbaggers) along with that crew in early May 44. Roger A Fox was the Ordnance Officer with the 791st and his branch of service was "Ordnance" and not "Air Corp". The last was Wallace R Fox. He shows first up in the Roster of Officers on 31 Aug 44. He was a navigator with the 789th BS.
It's possible this Lt. Fox was assigned to the 467th/790th BS after the 'Roster of Officers' list of 05 Dec 44. He never panned out as a pilot, was transferred to other duty before flying any missions, and before the next 'Roster of Officers' on 05 Mar 45."
