Rewey, John Delbert
Les and Doling got back about 0630, but they had lost Renaud. Came time to takeoff, and he still wasn't there so we pulled out of the way of the other ships and waited. He came before all the ships had taken off - he had ridden out on the train and had to walk a couple of miles. Guess they all had a pretty good time with about 8 quarts of champagne. Got back to Rackheath about 1030, and they had us scheduled again, but Les saw Capt. Campbell and so we were taken off the alert list. Got to have a little rest and sleep and time to change clothes. Wrote to Louise and home. About 1730 we got orders to pack everything as soon as possible since we were moving to another group. Got all packed and set to go when it was all called off. We would have gone to the 445th at Tibbenham which had been hit pretty hard by fighters that day.
