Aircraft assembly was difficult on February 27, 1945, as like most mornings, it was overcast over East Anglia. Our target was the marshalling yard at Halle, and our plane was loaded with six 250 pound bombs. We flew as squadron lead, and we had the H2X radar aboard for my seventeenth mission. It was a long trip taking eight hours and thirty minutes. Using the H2X and the Norden bombsight, we dropped on the target through the overcast.
