Left the post at noon and we decided this morning not to go to London. Had a few beers in Norwich and then caught a train to Great Yarmouth. It's over on the sea and is a fairly large town. Saw a lot of wire barricades in the open fields on the way over which were intended to prevent the Germans from landing when there was a threat of invasion. Started drinking beer again, then looked in at a dance for a while. Les met a very nice girl and took her home, so I started out looking for a place to sleep. It was so darn dark that this was some job, but finally got a nice room at the Elstow Hotel near Queens on the front. Les was fortunate in meeting an elderly couple who put him up for the night.
