Rewey, John Delbert
Got up quite early, took some gasoline and built a fire and it's still
raining occasionally, having started in the night. Taxiied down to the.
unloading point, but didn't take off because of weather in England.
Also one shower after another here all day, so we got soaked plenty
of times. Tried to go into town again in the evening - got soaked again
walking to the gate and then we couldn't catch a ride. Bernie and Renaud finally made it on the back of motorcycles, and the rest of us came back to the ship. On the way, we looked in at a dance the P-38 boys were having in an old hangar. Lots of wine was making it a huge success, even though most of them couldn't talk with the giris. Came back to the ship, ate and bedded down again. This time I slept on the flight deck, but it was an awful night, cold and wet as the plane leaked plenty. Bernie and Renaud came back about midnight and they were wet clear thru, but they just sat in the seats with blankets around them and slept a little.
