Flynn, Joseph Leo
Flew 4:20 on this one and carried 52 100-lbs. G.P. bombs.

No flak at all. It was more or less front line support, we hit about 30 miles behind the lines. The target was an airfield. It was really splattered by the 100 pounders. Saw some of Monty’s boys. Also saw the gliders that were used to get to the beachhead [airhead] across the Rhine. We crossed directly over the battle lines but I guess the German’s big guns were turned on the ground pounders. Flew in a Consolidated nose and it wasn’t worth the time that was used to make it. It was the coldest turret that I’ve flown so far. We bombed from 20,000 ft. Flew No. 5 in the lead squadron. I kind of sweated out the bomb run. I guess it was because of the way we were hit with flak at Berlin.
