Diary Type: Combat - 21 Jul 44

Hatten, Paul Van Buren
I flew right waist with Lt Sell's crew to make a nine man crew. Our intended target was east of Munich but ran into extremely bad weasther of clouds and icing conditions. We were seperated from our Group and returned alone from near Mannheim nesrly to Holand where two B-24's joined us. Two P-51's picked us up in Belgium and escorted us out over the Channel. We dropped 10 - 500# incendiary bombs on our way out on a small German town. We hit intense flak at Saarbrucken and moderate in Holland. Luckily we only got three holes in the wings. We didn't encounter any enemy fighters.
