Lt Day flew his first mission with us as Co Pilot with Lt Post as Navigator. We carried 12 - 500# GP bombs but one failed to drop so we brought is back. We bombed an aircraft repair shop at Woippy near Met, France. There was no flak at the target and light flak on our return trip. We had good fighter protection by P-51 and P-38 and didn't see any tighters
