We got up early for mission number six today and it was really rough. Result - holes in the plane two feet across from being hit with twenty millimeter cannon shells, but no one hurt. Some crews were not so fortunate and had some men killed. Out tail gunner Smith alone shot over eight hundred rounds at FW-190's and ME-109's. Murphy, on his first trip as first pilot got shot up and couldn't get one wheel down so he bailed his men out over the firled and crash landed at the repair depot at Watton, a very neat job! The mission was Brunswick, Germany, an experimental aircraft installation something like Wright Patterson Field in Dayton, Ohio.
