Watch officer came around to wake the crews at 0430 and we thought
we should fly, but he said NO and woke Gray instead. At 0540, the OD came in and said to go to briefing right away, but before we got
dressed he came back and said to forget it . Since they had awakened Gray by mistake, they decided to let him go ahead and fly. Went to Target Ident. at 1000 and flew with Capt Mulhern on a shakedown at 1300. The boys hit Magdeburg today and really had the flak - several came back with feathered engines and a couple were wounded. We went on as Watch Officers tonight and go on pass tomorrow. At this rate we'll be here the rest of our lives. Plan on going to London to do some shopping. Wrote to Louise and home.
