Flynn, Joseph Leo
Flew 7:50 on this one and carried 10 500 lbs. G.P.’s.

No flak at all. Me-262’s were reported in the area again. I’m not sure what target we hit but this is one S-2 decided. We had to form over the continent and the clouds & bad weather in general screwed up the assembly. We hooked onto an Attlebridge (466 B.G.) formation and went with them. 12 ships aborted because of the weather. We hooked onto the right group because we were only on oxygen about two hours. After we crossed the front lines on the way back the weather got too bad for formation flying so we dropped down to seven hundred feet and came back by ourselves. I saw what was left of Coblenz. That place really had the hell knocked out of it. Most all the places in France were bombed pretty bad, even the little villages with 10-15 houses in them. [Of course much of that was from land combat.] The G.D. Limeys were shooting their flak guns at some of the planes again. One of the planes from another group was supposed to have gone down. Big Pete (Our Assembly Ship) had its number I engine shot out by the Limey’s. That Attlebridge [group] couldn’t fly formation [at] all hence we didn’t fly in any definite position. We were flying No. 9 at the time of bombs away but for the most part we just trailed behind them.
