Diary Type: Overseas Movement - 04 Jul 44

Rewey, John Delbert
Took off at 1353 GMT heading for Goose Bay, Labrador. On course were Millinocket, Presque Isle, Cambellton, Mingan, Meccatina & Goose. It was a 4:20 trip at 5,000 over some pretty rugged and wild country. It was hot as blazes when we landed, but cooled off in the evening with lots of mosquitos. By the way, we crossed the St. Lawrence River on the way up. Had to put covers on the guns and engines because of blowing sand. About 2200 we saw flares of all colors being shot off (Independence Day)-the Canadians even fired a few. Spent a lot of time at the plane guarding it.
