LT Downing flew again as our Bombardier and Breitlow navigated to make a ten man crew. We dropped 24-250# GP bombs on oil storage tanks at Lille, France. We had area fighter cover and we encountered no opposition. There was intense accurate flak coming out. We got one large hole through the bomb bay into the waist, one in the front waist and on the windshield of the pilot.
