Diary Type: Combat - 01 May 44

Prichard, Arthur Lyle
... we went to bed at ten-thirty p.m., got up at one-thirty a.m. and had breakfast, briefing, etc. and made a night takeoff and assembly. Now that is something else! Flopping around up there trying to form up using just wing lights to keep from being rammed or ramming someone else. We got into France about fifty miles when the weather went bad and we were recalled. We had to bring the bombs home and, needless to say, when you do that, you try and make a mighty soft landing. The only thing good about it was they finally gave us a mission credit for it so that was number five.
