Diary Type: Overseas Movement - 01 Mar 44
Hatten, Paul Van Buren
We went to Topeka Army Air Base from Gowen Field by troop train. It was our staging area prior to overseas duty. Lt White took sick and was put in the hospital which delayed out going across. I visited Wichita, Kansas where B-29's are built and got to see a number of them. We were given a furlough which lasted from April 12 till April 27. I was my niece Lois Ann then for the first time. On May 29 S/Sgt Bahrman and I went to see my brother Pete and his wife Mary at Salina, KS. We visited Camp Philips while we were there.
