  • 42-95094 Leading Lady
'Leading Lady' landing at the end of runway '03'. In the foreground is hardstand #35 and the perimeter track at the south end of the airfield. In the distance can be seen B-24's parked at hardstands $44-47. Just underneath the fuselage of 'Leading Lady' can be seen the 'Admin Site'.

Also, if you look close you can see a medical truck parked in the distance on the right. Perhaps "Doc" Munger's station?

Assuming photo was taken prior to the 'Trucking missions (mid-late Sept '44) when the "Last 3" was painted on the nose of the 467th aircraft. Of interest is the :light colored mass" behind the parked B-24's at hardstands 44-47. Thinking is that might be stacks of a harvest crop. Life went on at the airfield for the local farmers. Wonderful example of how life co-existed at Rackheath.
