    Aircraft from the 790th BS at their hardstands. The two planes on the left, at hardstand #31, are 42-50309 'Plow Jockey/Tenovus' and 42-95237 'Normandy Queen'. 42-52534 'Witchcraft' can be prominently seen on the right at hardstand #32. The aircraft next to her (with her tail facing the camera) is unknown at this time.

  • Landing after the mission
    41-29378 'Homeward Bound' landing after the mission to Hamburg. The farm by the 790th hardstands 31-33 is in the background, Also in the background in front of the farm can be seen 42-51671 returning to it's hardstand on the perimeter track.

    'Homeward Bound' was flown by crew #072-R1.

    Aerial view of airfield from southwest. "Tech Site' is located at the bottom of the screen with it's T2 hanger. Hardstands 44-47 are located bottom right. Hardstands 48-49 are on the bottom protruding onto the airfield. Hardstands 50 and 1-3 are located just above the west side T2 hanger with the Control tower inbetween hardstand 49 and 50.

    On the right hand side of the photo can be seen hardstands 13-20 of the 789th BS.

    Along the top of the airfiled can be seen the east side T2 hanger flanked by hardstand 21-34. On the very left are hardstands 35-37.

    The Main Runway (03-21) runs from bottom right to top left. Runway 08-26 is on the left side and Runway 14-32 is running horizontally across the image.

  • P-51 crash site between Sites 04 & 05
    Photo of the "Communal" site taken from Site #05. On the other side of the fense can be seen the crash site of the P-51 that crashed during the 467th's 200th mission celebration.

    On the left is the Gymnasium. The horizontal building to the right is Ration (w/ meat) Store. The building to the far right is the Ration (Breakdown) Store.

    The first building just behind the Gymnasium is the NAAFI Quarters and just visible behind that is a portion of the Aero Club.

  • View across the airfield from the control tower. In the foreground is the "windsock". In addition, the concrete pad ’Signal Squares’ can be seen. The "squares" were a bit archaic by this time, however, gave fliers some readable info about landing conditions, and positively identified the base so radio transmissions could be avoided.

    In the distance can be seen the east side T2 (Squadrons) hanger. Hard stands 21-34 can be seen from left to right with their parked aircraft. The farm house on the east side of the field can be seen in the distance to the right.

  • P-51 crash site between Sites 04 & 05
    During the 200th Mission Party, on Sunday 22 Apr 45, a P-51 made an impromptu appearance during the 'Air Circus' portion of the program. While performing some aerobatics the pilot crashed and was killed. Seen here is the wreckage of the aircraft in the field in-between Sites 4 & 5..

    In the background can be seen the Gymnasium on the left, the 'Ration Breakdown Store' in the middle and the 'Ration Store - with Meat Store' on the right.
