  • Mission #210 - Plauen, Germany
Weather was a challenge for many Groups this day and assembly was done on the continent over Leige, Bel. Only two of the B-24 Wings of the 2nd Air Division bombed the target as the other two Wings abandoned the mission. From the 467th BG, 10 returned early as they could not find our formation.

Four others from our Group formed up with other Groups, including John Pritchett McLarty and crew #016-R2 (flying 42-94910). They managed to assemble with a B-17 formation. These photo's were taken of that formation. Based on these photo's it appears that these B-17's are from a number of different units, although all appear to be from the 1st Division with the triangle tail markings. I make out 'K'- 379th BG, 'P' - 384th BG and 'J' - 351st Bg among them.

The crew on '910' was -

    John Pritchett McLarty - Pilot
Dean Merlin Chisel - Co Pilot
    George Clayton Faulkner - Navigator
    Bernard Richard Harris - Toggler
    Murray Alexander Dilks - Engineer
Paul Clement McKee - Radio Operator
    Joseph Hubert Ireland - Gunner
    Horace O'Neal Burke - Gunner
    John Jerry Murphy - Gunner
