Photo taken from 42-51354 (flown by Robert A Meyers and crew #062-R3) in the #2 position. (first of a series)
With Waginer See in the distance, the 790th BS ships from the 2nd (Low Left) Squadron begin dropping their bombs. They are led by 44-50156 (flown by Charles James McCabe and crew #081-R3) of the 791st BS. ‘156’ only flew three missions with the 467th so this (and the following photo’s) are a rare glimpse of her.
The next ship following (with the bombs dropping) is 42-50737 ‘Hot Rock’ (flown by Robert Henry Willis and crew #064-R2) in the #3 position of this Section. Interestingly, they were scheduled to fly 42-52534 ‘Witchcraft’. At the moment, I’m not sure what prevented ‘Witchcraft’ from participating.
Just above, and behind, is 42-95057 ‘Angel’ (flown by Hobart Garland Ferree and crew #051-R5) in a position I’m not sure what to number yet. The formation alignment had changed at the end of the war (being a bit “wider”) and still need to determine the numbering system.
Finally, just coming into “shot” in the bottom left corner is 42-110171 ‘Prowler’ (flown by John William C Upp and crew #058-R2) in the #6 position of this Section.

The 790th BS ships from the 2nd (Low Left) Squadron crossing over the North Sea on the way home. There is another Group (466th BG?) in the distance. This was the final time the Group would fly like this “in anger”. As the sun begins to descend in the background, the men of the 467th fly back to Rackheath for the last time. The war will be over soon.
They are led by 44-50156 (flown by Charles James McCabe and crew #081-R3) of the 791st BS. ‘156’ only flew three missions with the 467th so this (and the following photo’s) are a rare glimpse of her.

This photo was taken from 42-95057 ‘ Angel’ (flown by George Lamar Crump and crew #065-R4) flying in the #3 position of the 1st (Lead) Flight of the 2nd Squadron.
The foremost plane on the left is 44-49513 (flown by Russell Edwin Scott and crew #090-R3) in the 1st (Lead) position of the 1st (Lead) Flight of the 2nd Squadron.
Just above her is ’42-50846 (flown by Donald Morton Rosenthal and crew #054-R4) in the 2nd (Deputy Lead) position of the 1st (Lead) Flight of the 2nd Squadron.
The wing tip at the very bottom is 42-110171 ‘The Prowler’ (flown by John Gurley Phillips and crew #063-R4) in the 4th position of the 1st (Lead) Flight of the 2nd Squadron.
Finally, just coming into frame is 41-29378 ‘Homeward Bound’ ( flown by James Gerald Coffey and crew #056-R4) in the 5th position of the 1st (Lead) Flight of the 2nd Squadron.
This photo of ‘Homeward Bound’ is very significant regarding her skin finish changing by the end of the war. One possible conclusion was that as she was the “new” 'Assembly Ship' by wars end that she was in the process of being painted. In this photo, she is shown flying combat in her new “colors”. Still a mystery as to whether she was painted or had the originally Olive Drab (OD) removed. There is a rather large gap in the missions flown between 07 Jan 45 and 03 Mar 45. Perhaps it was during this period when she “shed her skin”. Definitely more research needed.
